Cooling water can also do harm. Did you know that?
With the arrival of spring, many evaporative machines (towers, coolers and condensers) are put back into operation after weeks or months of inactivity. It is one of the most critical times of the year for those who operate cooling systems and, often, also the most underestimated.
During downtime, if ponds are not drained or treated properly, standing water can quickly become an ideal environment for bacterial growth. Among the most significant risks is that related to the spread of legionellosis, carried through the evaporation of water produced by plants.
What happens if no action is taken?
The consequences can be significant:
- reduction in the efficiency of heat exchange and increased energy consumption
- possible health risk
What to do instead?
- emptying the basins during extended stops
- use biocides long-acting when necessary
- run always a disinfection before recommissioning
Proper water management is critical for efficiency, safety and durability of the systems.
At W-Tech we address this issue in an integrated way. We not only design and manufacture heat dissipation machines, but we take care of every detail that ensures its performance over time.
The use of Magnelis®, for example, is a first barrier against corrosion because of its ability to repair itself even when scratched or machined. But for us it is not an end point: it is the basis on which we build an even more complete protection system.
Therefore, we integrate specific solutions at the most critical points:
B-COAT
Multi-layer protection dedicated to the basin, the most exposed area, resistant to corrosion, impact and aggressive agents.
W-COAT+
Full anti-corrosion coating, applied before assembly to provide coverage in even the most difficult areas. Resistant to UV, chemicals and weathering.
4Shield
Our most advanced system: a 4-level protection combining structural steel, Magnelis®, W-COAT+ and a final elastomeric barrier.
The result: structures that are more durable, reliable and protected over time.
We have also developed W-CARE, our dedicated water treatment system designed to help our customers maintain safe, efficient facilities e comply with current regulations.
Because, after all, protecting machines always starts with the water flowing inside them.
